The experience
Your journey begins in Te Anau, with return small group transport along the iconic Milford Road, a scenic drive with stops for photos along the way. At Deepwater Basin, you'll board a 10-minute water taxi across to Sandfly Point, where the real adventure begins: a self-guided walk along a section of the world-renowned Milford Track, up to 11km and around 4 hours return. Along the way, you'll reach Giant Gate Falls, the perfect place to pause, whether that's for a few photos, a quiet picnic, or a swim in the cool waters before continuing on.
Optional Nature Cruise

Make the most of your day with an optional Nature Cruise with Southern Discoveries. Cruise the full length of Milford Sound over 1 hour 45 minutes, with expert commentary throughout. A buffet or picnic lunch is available for purchase onboard, and complimentary tea and coffee are included. Spacious indoor lounges and open-air viewing decks mean there's a comfortable spot whatever the weather, with every chance to spot seals, dolphins, and Fiordland crested penguins along the way.
